Christians: God created the earth in 3 days but created the stars in just 1 day. How is that possible?

God took 3 whole days to create the earth and just 1 day to create the billions of galaxies each containing trillions of planets, suns and moons… Doesn’t this story sound like it was written by primitive beings with little knowledge about the universe? How can you possibly defend this bible?

I have my own ideas how things happened, but let’s focus on your question. God says he can create the universe out of nothing…and you focus on the logistics of whether he could do it in one day or three? If he can do that great feat, I’d pretty much assume he can do it within any time schedule he darn well pleases.

If you believe God to be all powerful then nothing is too ridiculous to be believed. Theists have ever believed themselves the centre of the universe. A Muslim was on here earlier saying that there must be creator because the world is constructed with everything humans need to survive and he would not accept the possibility that we evolved to suit our environment. Theists need to believe they are immortal and that the entire universe was constructed for their benefit. Very arrogant.

So the Earth existed for even longer without a Sun or other stars, that makes sense.

Honestly, there is absolutely nothing in supporting the creation as told by Genesis.

This is fundamentalist Christianity that requires that these things happen word for word. In the Catholic Church, we take a more allegorical approach to these types of passages in scripture in the book of Genesis. It would actually be counterintuitive to take what science has discovered and turn God into a liar. If we look at these passages in a symbolic way, we get more out of them. The Bible wasn’t written to be a science book but to reveal the mystery of God.

God can do whatever He wants to. He doesn’t have to consult His creation. Think about that. He is not like you and I.

God is… Omniscient:
He has infinite knowledge; He knows everything.

God is… Omnipresent:
He is present everywhere at the same time.

God is… Omnipotent:
He has unlimited power; and is able to do anything.

You misunderstand the lack of information about the galaxies compared to the meticulous information about the creation of the earth.

The Bible has information in it for those of us who live here. It’s a book that focuses on God’s dealings with humanity. It’s not meant to be exhaustive about what is going on out in space.

Anything is possible with God. He is omnipotent, He has power over everything. No it does not sound like it was written by primitive beings. If you look closely, you can integrate the story of Creation with Science now. When God said “Let there be light”, that was The Big Bang. That explains why the sun and stars came after that since when it exploded, there was light. If you look a little closely, you’ll see.
